In the wake of the pandemic, job openings have surged in Australia. According to SEEK, the demand for workers is steady, with a 50.7 per cent increase in jobs advertised since March 2019.

If you’re looking for work, this means you’ll have more employment opportunities and the chance to find a job that truly suits you and your salary expectations. It also means that if you’re thinking about job hopping, you might find a similar role that has a substantially higher salary.

So why, in such a great period for jobseekers, would you think about completing an MBA? If the MBA is designed to accelerate your career, but you’re starting to make moves on your own, is there much point?

We happen to think it’s the perfect time to start an MBA, here’s why:

The price of a promotion

Let’s be totally realistic here; promotions take work. Whether you go above and beyond at your current job, or pursue professional development, you’ll need to work hard to achieve your goals. Most accurately, you’ll probably need a combination to advance your career.

Job hopping to bring diversity to your resume is a common strategy. Today, you could go out and find another job that provides at least a $10,000 salary increase. Of course, you’ll need to work in that role for at least a year and then start the process all over again, to maybe, if you’re lucky, achieve another increase.

However, because MBAs are designed to equip you with cutting-edge leaderships skills, if you complete one, you could find yourself in the top two or three per cent of income earners in Australia. This is a significant step forward for your career and you could achieve the qualification in as little as 16 months.

Even though you could certainly gain a promotion in the next few months, the MBA will give you the opportunity to go even further. And if you start now – you might even be able to make the most of the job boom with your brand-new qualification.
