Students sharing knowledge

Study groups provide an ideal environment to network with other students.

As a Swinburne Online student, you’ll be interacting with others on a regular basis. Learning together with other students is a great way to develop your understanding of the unit content and stay motivated. So as well as independent study, you’ll be doing group work in most of your units.

Your online study group will have between 25 to 30 students and will be facilitated by your Online Learning Advisor. Study groups allow you to draw on the knowledge of the group to support your learning and you’ll find that the people you study with become an important part of your learning experience.

How group learning will help you:

  • Allows you to explore ideas with your classmates and eLearning Advisors, to get the most out of your course
  • You can set up your own groups based on interest, course subjects and units to discuss academic topics – or simply to socialise
  • Find students in your local area and take your study groups offline
  • Small groups allow for in-depth discussion and personalised support, so you won’t get lost in the crowd

The people you study with become an important part of your learning experience.
