This unit teaches students how to work respectfully with people from diverse social and cultural groups and situations, including Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander people. This unit applies to all workers.

The skills in this unit must be applied in accordance with Commonwealth and State/Territory legislation, Australian/New Zealand standards and industry codes of practice.

In this unit, students will learn how to identify Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander cultural safety issues, model cultural safety in their own work practice and develop strategies to enhance cultural safety.

This unit is vital to professionals working in a broad range of roles including those involved in direct client service, program planning, development and evaluation.
