Australian Citizens Studying Overseas

Pre-service Teachers studying overseas require current Child Safety Screening Checks before undertaking their Professional Experience Placement.

Residing outside of Australia for less than 12 months

  • Submit a current child safety screening check relevant to your State/Territory of residence

OR

  • Provide an Australian Federal National Police Check, obtained within 6 months of your enrolment with Swinburne Online.
  • Go to the AFP National Police Check website and complete the online application form.
  • Provide your clearance outcome to Swinburne Online when you receive your National Police Check certificate.

You are also required to adhere to any additional Child Safety Screening requirements that your education setting may request prior to your placement.

Residing outside of Australia for more than 12 months

  • Provide a National Police Check issued by your current country of residence. Checks must be issued within 6 months of your enrolment with Swinburne Online.
  • Provide your clearance outcome to Swinburne Online when you receive your National Police check certificate.

You are also required to adhere to any additional Child Safety Screening requirements that your education setting may request prior to your placement.

Renewing your Child Safety Screening Checks

National Police Checks are valid for 3 years, you are responsible for keeping this current and must apply for a renewal in a timely manner.
