Study online with dedicated support through the Moondani Toombadool Centre — grounded in community, culture and student success.
Moondani Toombadool means ‘embracing teaching and learning’ in the Woiwurrung language of the Wurundjeri People.
Established in 2018, the Centre leads all Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander matters at Swinburne — including governance, student services, teaching and learning, research, staff, culture and engagement.
At Swinburne, we are committed to institutional transformation and recognise that Indigenous knowledge forms the foundation for leading educational change.
We respectfully acknowledge the Wurundjeri People of the Kulin Nation, who are the Traditional Owners of the land on which Swinburne’s Australian campuses are located in Melbourne’s east and outer-east, and pay our respect to their Elders past and present.
We are honoured to recognise our connection to Wurundjeri Country, history and culture through these locations, and strive to ensure that we operate in a manner that respects and honours the Elders and Ancestors of these lands.
We also acknowledge and respect the Traditional Owners of lands across Australia, their Elders, Ancestors, cultures and heritage.
Studying online doesn’t mean doing it alone.
At Swinburne, Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students are supported through the Moondani Toombadool Centre — a dedicated hub for Indigenous student services, teaching and learning, research, culture and engagement.
Whether you’re starting your first course or returning to study, you’ll have access to academic support, cultural connection, career opportunities and a culturally safe support team that understand your journey and respects your identity.
Support is available wherever you are:
Swinburne’s Reconciliation Action Plan (RAP) builds on our long-standing commitment to self-determination, Indigenous knowledges and cultural safety.
Swinburne Online is committed to creating a culturally safe and inclusive environment where Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students feel respected, supported and empowered.
Through implementing an Elevate RAP, Swinburne joins an elite group of organisations that have gone above and beyond ‘business as usual’ to embed reconciliation in core business practices and decision-making at the highest level. – Justin Mohamed, CEO, Reconciliation Australia
