While it’s important to pause and take a break from study, too much time off can sometimes affect your motivation levels. We understand that life can get in the way, priorities change and all of a sudden it’s difficult to get back on track with your studies.
To help, we had a chat to one of our Student Coaches to find out their top tips to boost motivation and help launch you back into a positive study routine.
1. Remember how far you’ve come
Take a step back, reflect on your progress and remember– you’ve done it before and you can do it again. Acknowledge your achievements and use them to fuel the rest of your study journey.
2. Re-visit your study goals
Think about what you’re working towards and why it matters to you. Re-check your goals for the year– you may have already achieved some of them, but it is important to keep going.

3. Utilise feedback
With every assessment comes constructive feedback from your eLA. This helps assist with your continuous academic improvement. Take this feedback on board when approaching your next assessment and compare your results. Equally, if you’ve received positive feedback, keep up the good work!
4. Stick to a study plan
Check in with your current schedule, evaluate how things may have changed and adjust your study plan accordingly. This evaluation may help identify some road blocks– it’s all about a realistic study routine that can help you balance your priorities more effectively.
But remember, if it’s not broken, don’t fix it. Having a positive and realistic study planwill help you achieve your study goals.
5. Don’t be afraid to ask for help
Proactively reaching out to your support network is a great way to motivate yourself and build your study confidence. Chatting with your eLA, connecting with a Student Advisor or seeking advice from a Student Coach can help clarify any queries and set you on the right path.
Don’t forget about the Student Portal for some quick resources to help set you up for success.
