Types of Assessments

An essay is usually based on a question or statement, which you have to develop an argument around. Essay questions do not usually have a simple yes or no answer to them. In this way, they are not like the types of questions you will see on an exam like a multiple choice or short answer questions.

Group Assignments

In an online environment, people can often struggle to conceptualise how they will effectively work in a team. But it an important skill to master! Job advertisements reflect this priority – in May 2014 around 75% of job ads on SEEK.com.au (Australia’s #1 job site) showed ‘team’ as a keyword. Using technology effectively is a great way to start. Meeting each other face-to-face in a visual classroom via Blackboard Collaborate or Skype will make the journey a lot smoother. Setting clearly defined roles and expectations and constantly evaluating these along the way will help you have a successful experience.

There are many ways to complete a presentation based task. You can use a variety of different programs or platforms, some examples being Microsoft Powerpoint or Prezi. Presentations submitted online can have narration recorded alongside a video of the slides so that it can be easily shared with others.
