Centre for Career Development

Beginning the job-hunting process once you've graduated can be just as daunting as starting your degree. But there's no need to worry, we’ve got you covered.

One of the benefits of being an online student is that you have access to Swinburne University of Technology services – including the Centre for Career Development

These days, employers are looking for more than just formal qualifications from potential employees. At the Centre, you'll not only get assistance with career planning, you’ll also receive advice and discover avenues to develop experience and skills outside university – all giving you the advantage in the job application process.

And once you've entered the job market, you'll still be able to get in touch with the Centre for advice on how to further develop your career into the future.

How we’ll help you prepare for your future:

  • Planning your career
Get advice on all aspects of career planning – including identifying career paths, networking, searching for job vacancies, resume and cover letter writing, preparing for job interviews and one-to-one counselling. All career counsellors are available to students via email, phone, face to face and Skype.
  • Building your career
Gain relevant experience with advice on finding part-time work while you study, holiday employment, job shadowing, volunteering and joining professional associations. You can also participate in the Swinburne Emerging Leaders Award program to help gain new experiences and skills.
  • Events, seminars and workshops
The Centre runs events, workshops and seminars throughout the year – covering topics such as improving your employability skills, discipline specific career conferences, employer information sessions and networking events. Find out more information or view these events through SwinEmploy.
