Swinburne Online to sustain growth with continued investment

Swinburne Online more than doubled its revenue in the past year allowing the online education provider to continue to invest in key business activities to sustain long-term growth – reported today by SEEK in its 2013-2014 Full Year Results.

The results for Swinburne Online, which is 50 per cent owned by Swinburne University of Technology and 50 per cent by SEEK, also showed a strong growth in students educated in all Teaching Periods bringing its student numbers up to 5,699.

In the past year, Swinburne Online hit major milestones celebrating its first graduates, adding new courses and being named a Best Employer by Aon Hewitt after less than three years in operation.

Swinburne Online CEO Denice Pitt said continuing to invest for company growth is underway with a focus on developing new course content, student support initiatives and continued employee engagement.

“Supporting our students is at the centre of what we do. We already offer seven day student support, and bringing in new initiatives to provide more proactive services to assist students in succeeding is the way forward,” Ms Pitt said.

“Part of this process is engaging and developing our employees and making Swinburne Online a place for everyone to excel and be active contributors to the overall organisational goals.

“We have also expanded our team to focus on other business objectives including ramping up our marketing efforts to further increase our presence in the online education sector.”

Last month, Swinburne Online launched an online Master of Business Administration and Master of Professional Accounting which is targeted towards working professionals.

“Our ability to stay agile in the market has enabled us to respond to demand by providing course content to suit the environment,” Ms Pitt said.

Next month Swinburne Online will celebrate its second group of online graduates this year, the graduates will attend the Swinburne University of Technology ceremony in September.

“In 2014, we were proud to see our first students graduate, they are testament to our efforts in being able to deliver high quality education and reach successful learning outcomes,” Ms Pitt said.

“We have created an online learning experience that has enabled our students to thrive. It is exciting to push that experience forward by reinvesting in the business and the future of online education.”
