Swinburne Online Best Employer two years in a row

Leading online education provider Swinburne Online has been announced as an Aon Hewitt Best Employer for the second year running. The award recognises organisations across Australia and New Zealand who have record high employee engagement scores and outstanding people practices.

Swinburne Online was announced as an Aon Hewitt Best Employer alongside 15 others at the 2015 Best Employers awards night in Sydney on Tuesday 2 June.

In 2015 148 organisations and close to 100,000 employees participated in the Aon Hewitt accreditation process, which requires organisations to undertake a comprehensive employee engagement survey, a people practices inventory and a detailed interview with the organisation’s CEO and Director of Human Resources.

Swinburne Online has revolutionised online education in Australia since it started less than four years ago, seeing the company achieve year on year growth in student numbers and revenue.

Swinburne Online CEO, Denice Pitt said the company’s success is largely due to its highly engaged workforce that is student-centric, people-focused and agile.

“At Swinburne Online we have fostered an engaged workforce by putting people and values as central to achieving our business goals,” she said.

“This starts at the recruitment process, where we focus on a strong values fit as well as great talent to make sure we get the right people across all levels of the business to support our continued growth.

“We are incredibly proud to have received Aon Hewitt Best Employer accreditation for the second consecutive year,” said Ms Pitt.

Swinburne Online’s General Manager Human Resources, Shanyn Payne said the company has put a lot of time into building its employee engagement program.

“At Swinburne Online we take a whole of organisation and whole of person approach to building engaged teams,” she said.

“In our strategic plan we identify opportunities for emerging talent to take ownership of projects across the business.

“We have developed a pool of key talent who have taken ownership of their development and are able to pick up and run with projects across the business,” said Ms Payne.

“This has resulted in the high retention of committed and talented individuals.”

Swinburne Online provides students high quality and credible degrees, underpinned by sophisticated support systems. This allows students the flexibility to study when, where and how it suits them, with the certainty of a credible and recognized degree once they graduate.
