Meet the Team: VET Assessor

Say hello to Anne Butler, one of our new VET assessors. We caught up with Anne to get some great study tips!

What do you do in your role?
I support students in completing their assignments.  I provide feedback to help them learn and meet the requirements of the tasks.

Tell us about your professional experience prior to joining Swinburne Online…
I had a career in the financial services sector for 10 years in business development and management. This provided me with the opportunity to run workshops for staff and clients, educating them on industry specific products and services. In 2008, I transitioned into the VET sector, working with registered training organisations in Queensland and Victoria.

What advice would you like to give to students?
My top tip for assignment submission is to review your work before you hand it in to ensure grammar and spelling is consistent with business standards. Make sure that you have completed all of the work that is required for the assignment. A good tip is to use the Marking Guide as a checklist to ensure you have done everything required. If you are finding an assignment challenging or overwhelming, take a break or move onto the next task; come back to the section you are finding difficult with a clear head. If you are still unsure always contact Kate - your trainer.

What would you like to see students doing more of?
I would like to see students doing more research and context; try to respond to the questions based on your own work experiences/workplace, or base your work on a company you are familiar with. This will make sure that your responses reflect your experience and personality!
