Marketing Diploma Leads to Career Growth

Swinburne Online TAFE student Leigh was able to take advantage of the professional development offered by his employer and complete his Diploma of Marketing in under 12 months. We caught up with Leigh to find out his experience of studying online.

Why did you decide to study?

I wanted to do the course because it would help me advance my career within the company I work for. I was thinking of doing a Certificate IV in Marketing but when I was researching and contacted Swinburne to discuss online studying they suggested I undertake a Diploma of Marketing.

What has been a highlight of studying your course?

One of my units was Under project Work and covered project scheduling, which has proven very useful in my job. It really opened my eyes and helped me to understand elements of project management which are highly relevant to my line of work.

Overall I was very happy with how friendly all of the assessors were during the submitting of assessments and also how constructive the feedback was for resubmission of assessments. I would surely recommend Swinburne online to anyone I may meet in the future.

What's the best thing about studying online?

It was helpful being able to work at my own pace with no deadlines and submission dates. This made it a lot easier as I was able to juggle my work load and also my young family along with my studies.

What strategies helped you to be a successful online learner?

My main strategy was time management. With so many commitments I had to be organsied and schedule time to study. 

What advice do you have for other students?

I would suggest to take your time through each unit and read the modules carefully. I found reading the constructive feedback from the assessors helped a lot when resubmitting assignments.
