This was originally published in Education Review, listen to the full podcast here.

In an extended interview we spoke to the director of teacher education programs at Swinburne Online, Sheena O’Hare.

Sheena has been teaching and researching in the education profession for over 30 years in Scotland and different states of Australia and now works as the Director of Teacher Education Programs at Swinburne Online in Melbourne.

She recently competed a PhD entitled “The Role of the Tutor in Supporting Online Engagement in Higher Education” which focussed on how university education tutors provide critical feedback to support the learning of pre-service teachers.

From this research she has proposed recommendations on how practising teachers can measure their own performance to ensure the best learning outcomes are achieved by students.
