Placement Information

What are placements?

Placements are a key part of your education course and are a requirement for teacher registration. All our education students are responsible for arranging and maintaining their own placements.

Placements prepare you for work in a real classroom and will give you the skills you need for your career. Completing them at different schools/early childhood setting gives you the chance to network and make positive relationships which will open up future job opportunities. The school you complete your placements at could end up being your employer!

How many placements do I need to do?

The number of placements you have to do depends on your course:

  • Bachelor of Education (Primary): 3 x 20 days, 1 x 21 days. Total: 81 days
  • Bachelor of Education (Early Childhood & Primary): 3 x 20 days, 1 x 21 days, 1 x 10 days. Total: 91 days
  • Bachelor of Education (Early Childhood Teaching): 4 x 20 days. Total: 80 days
  • Master of Teaching (Primary): 3 x 20 days. Total: 60 days

How do I get a placement?

When you begin studying, you’ll need to planning time out in your own schedule. You may need to apply for leave from your current employment, or plan childcare for your family. Our placements are offered as part of a regular unit. And the unit provides theory work throughout the Teaching Period in the lead up to your placement date.

After graduation
